About the brewery
Founded in 1719, Yucho Shuzo brews the freshest sake in the world. They know their sake is the best right after the sake is pressed, and they try everything to keep the sake in the best quality until it is brought to the mouth. For that reason, they do not ship the sake overseas except for limited occasions where the cold chain is strictly maintained. The secret of the famous sake Kazenomori is hidden in Gose, Nara, where the sake was first brewed in history.
They have three breweries:
Gose Brewery (the main brewery, where the fresh Kazenomori is brewed);
Kyoho Brewery (adjacent to the main brewery, where Mizuhana is brewed with a traditional method); and
Sanroku Brewery (15 min away from the main brewery, where they brew sake from very local rice).
Depending on the brewing schedule, you will be able to visit all three breweries to see the secrets of Yucho Shuzo, which is usually strictly closed to public.
The visit to Yucho Shuzo will be fully guided by the 13th-generation CEO, Chobei Yamamoto, who will help those who already know the basics of sake to dig deep into the world of sake continued since ancient times. For that reason and due to the high demand, the visit to Yucho Shuzo is limited to eager professionals or those who have experienced a brewer visit with Story of Sake Platform. Please do contact us if you are interested.
